SINCE 1879

TOYOBOSHI is one of the most reputable spinning companies in Japan and is the successor to Kuwanohara Spinning Factory—the birthplace of Japan’s fiber industry—which was founded in 1879. The company has been in business for more than 145 years, making it one of the oldest spinning companies in Japan. In 1930, it was the first in Japan to begin producing high-quality cashmere yarns, a tradition it has continued for more than 95 years. Skilled artisans craft these yarns—which are all proudly made in Japan—upholding their long-standing legacy as they continue to produce some of the best fibers in the world.

Procurement of Cashmere Materials

TOYOBOSHI’s cashmere yarns begin with the careful sourcing of raw materials. Leveraging long-standing relationships with production regions in China, we combine an expert eye for identifying the finest fibers with an extensive network to procure top-quality cashmere directly. Through our unique procurement channels—developed over many years and focused on local dehairing plants where we provide technical guidance—we are able to select only the most consistent and highest-quality dehaired cashmere. While raw cashmere prices can fluctuate significantly, our year-round purchasing strategy ensures reliable access to stable raw materials of consistent quality, quantity, and pricing.

Special Technology

Toyoboshi leverages the expertise cultivated over many years in cashmere spinning to develop a wide range of innovative and proprietary technologies that define the character of our knitwear products.

While placing great importance on the preservation of traditional craftsmanship, we continue to pursue further innovation and improvement, looking toward the future. By honoring the yarn-making traditions and cashmere culture nurtured throughout our history, we consistently prioritize quality at the highest level, while advancing the development of new materials and exploring new forms of expression.

CCMI and Quality Control

CCMI (Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute)

The Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute (CCMI) was established in 1984 as an international organization comprised of the world’s leading cashmere spinning companies. Its mission is to “promote the use of genuine cashmere and camel hair products and protect the interests of manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.” TOYOBOSHI is a member of CCMI and serves on its board of directors. Guided by the responsibility and integrity expected of CCMI members, TOYOBOSHI maintains a strict quality control and inspection system throughout the entire production process—from raw material procurement to finished yarn.
